10 Super Affordable Christmas Gifts You Can Buy For Your Colleagues

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/VSOuxul2gYs/secret-santa

Christmas is here again, and if you are someone who fell in love with reading and has never shown any signs of giving up, I’m sure you’d fancy a gift that aligns with your hobby. Small gestures that include tokens of appreciation are usually the best options, though reading addicts would rather have something that’s a bit useful and long-lasting.

However, they often face the dilemma of whether to buy new books and pens or perhaps opt for something that isn’t expensive, but still worthy. Whimsical bookshelf accents are perfect, but they are commonplace and a bit pricey. That means, there’s a whole lot of items to choose out there, and it takes a smart mind to do that for this Christmas bash!

I’m someone who loves reading too, and within our little reading club, we managed to narrow down a list of fantastic Office Christmas Party gifts available for purchase online.

1. A Silicone Tea Infuser

A tea infuser for that end-year Christmas party isn’t a conventional choice, and it won’t be useless either. This Fred and Friends MANATEA Silicone Tea Infuser is perfect because it is soft, food-safe and won’t affect the taste of your tea. Above all, it is insanely cheap at less than $10!

2. Post-it Pop-up Notes Dispenser

Unlike the others, this beautiful and Apple-shaped Post-it Pop-up Notes Dispenser packs up double the sticking power due to its unique adhesive. For less than $7, you will never have to struggle to store your to-do lists of all sizes and shapes again!

3. A Well-organised To-Do Pad

To-do lists are there to conveniently help remember essential chores and act on them in an organized manner. But for your Christmas party, you have no reason to buy something ordinary, yet there’s a better To-Do Pad for go-getters and gadabouts. 60 sheets for just $7 isn’t bad, right?

4. A Mini Desktop Vacuum Cleaner

With it as a gift, you will never have to use a tissue paper or anything to clean up dust, dirt or cigarette ash. The beautiful-looking and Portable Beetle Ladybug cartoon cleaner fits in your palm and is powered by an AA battery for a perfect clean. Get it for less than $10!

5. Four Cute Stress Reliever toys

Adorable, soft, slow rising, squishy and excellent as stress relieving hand wrist toys, these four pieces will keep you engaged and spirited. Instead of feeling sad, depressed or angry for no reason, buy these 4PCS Kawaii Squishy Toys – they are very cheap!

6. Protective Laptop Case Sleeve Bag

Reading addicts need always to protect their laptops, phones, and tablets. Instead of carrying a bag, why don’t you buy this cheap designer iBenzer Basic 13.3″ Neoprene – soft, light, classy and durable, and compatible with office bag, briefcase, and all backpack types?

7. Mindfulness Colouring Book

Another excellent gift for any reading lover this Christmas is this Mindfulness Coloring Book, Vol 2. It will help cultivate a mindful focus and fight stress. FYI, this international bestseller has over 100 beautiful pages for just $8!

8. Big Idea Notebook Set

All ardent readers love having a Journal, and you can buy one for this Christmas. You can choose a large, medium or small!

9. Stereo Earphones

They can be a perfect gift too, mainly because everyone loves listening to their favorite music. We’ve got this ultra-soft ErgoFit in earbud headphones with long cord threads and broader frequency response, available in a plethora of colors.

10. Natural and Beautiful Log Coffee Mugs

If buying a mug is your choice, here’s what you will instantly fall in love with – Coworker Gift Mug Succulent Holder. It is made from the branches of White Oak tree, and as well as being a great coffee mug, it can form part of interior décor!

Welcome to another Dot Com Lifestyle Vlog. You Will Be So Fly After Reading These 5 Books On How To Smooth Talk

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/9Gro3_k2hkc/booklist-for-persuasion

Admit it. We like people to buy into our ideas and beliefs. We like to know that we are right and when others agree, it validates your value and intelligence. We constantly persuade people intentionally and unintentionally. Sales people persuade others to buy; marketers persuade audiences to like; you persuade your boss to give you a raise. There is no way we can deny that persuasion is the modern killing-skill to play in anyone’s career. Yet there are some who seem to have this skill mastered a lot better than others. Fortunately, we have curated a selection of books for you to step up your persuasion game and take what is yours.

To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others by Daniel H. Pink

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, every day more than fifteen million people earn their keep by persuading someone else to make a purchase. This book is about human behaviour, motivation, and about how EVERYONE “sells”.

To Sell Is Human reveals the new ABCs of moving others (it’s no longer “Always about Closing”), and explains why extraverts don’t make the best salespeople. Pink gives practical frameworks and theories to closing the deal. The book is incredibly informative, and is recommended for everyone who has a job or even any kind of relationship with that involves some form of persuasion.

Reading duration: 3hrs 51mins

Get To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others from Amazon at $12.87

Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die by Chip Heath and Dan Heath

What is a sticky idea? It is an idea that is so impressive the audience can remember and adopt. In the book Made to Stick, the authors offer six principles to developing a sticky idea. Readers are encouraged to think about a big idea and test with these six principles that include simplicity, unexpectedness, concreteness, credibility, emotions and stories.

The book itself adopted the principles, providing a lot of stories (examples) from the non-profit sector, how these organisations work hard to spread the message across, including examples of charities which used the mother-Teresa effect.

Reading duration: 4hrs 7mins

Get Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die from Amazon at $14.31

Yes!: 50 Scientifically Proven Ways to Be Persuasive by Noah J. Goldstein, Robert B. Cialdini, Steve J. Martin

Small changes can make a big difference in your powers of persuasion. While we believe human communication is a form of social science, the book tries to decipher human persuasion with science and provide us with practical tricks to be more persuasive.

The authors pointed out researchers who studied persuasion have uncovered a series of hidden rules for moving people in your direction. Here is the sneak peek to some of his principles to persuasive expressions – Reciprocation (mirroring what others do can increase liking); and scarcity, we all know the effect of the “Last piece” on all shopaholics. The book offers more of these useful scientific findings that are easily applicable to the daily conversation and even in a business setting.

Ogilvy on Advertising by David Ogilvy

This cannot be a persuasive booklist without a slight touch from the advertising giant David Ogilvy. Although this read was written decades ago and contains information that may be considered outdated (especially since advertising has been evolving and with the emergence of the internet), a lot of it is still sound and relevant. Examples in the books are all classic, well-known advertisements/campaigns, including the Got Milk campaign.

Advertising is the industry of persuasion, and we certainly can take away a lot of tips from this billion revenue industry to apply to our business persuasion.

Get Ogilvy on Advertising from Amazon at $21.47

Contagious: Why Things Catch On by Jonah Berger

Contagious is the book to look for if you need an alternative to traditional advertisements. Berger offers insights into the most powerful free promotion ever – word of mouth.

Why do people talk about certain products and ideas more than others? Why are some stories and rumours more infectious? And what makes online content go viral?

The award-winning read combines real business stories with consumer behaviour psychology to support how you can persuade your customers to buy certain products, essentially revealing the secrets to businesses that can successfully create word of mouth among its customers as a free promotion. This is certainly a book to read for people aiming to grow their businesses and get noticed among the crowd without spending big money.e

After Over 100 Interviews, Here Is My 8 Step Process to Getting Interviewed on a Podcast

Posted from https://addicted2success.com/entrepreneur-profile/after-over-100-interviews-here-is-my-8-step-process-to-getting-interviewed-on-a-podcast/

According to AdWeek, major brands are starting to bet on podcasting, and with good cause. The medium has allowed for a melding of traditional radio, entrepreneurial learning and promotional interviews, in a significantly more consumable format.

Podcast host Libsyn now hosts almost 30,000 different shows, growing steadily by nearly 5,000 shows every year since 2012. With entrepreneurs such as Gary Vaynerchuk stating that “Every company is a media company,” many brands will only be as strong as the content they create.

As an entrepreneur, company, or brand, how should you begin to look for shows? What should the format in reaching out to them look like? When you are aware of what the path looks like, it becomes quite easy to use podcasting to build a portfolio.

Using myself as a case study, getting on almost 50 podcasts over the last 2 years has helped me create a brand and has changed the game. Not only was I getting podcasting opportunities and leads, but I was also getting new opportunities to promote my brand; I was a podcast believer.

Podcasting is leading the way for new media, but despite how social media platforms love video, audio podcasts are still king.

The reason for podcast consumption in audio form, is due to the habits of the listener, with 69% listening on mobile devices. Brands also have to take the habits of the listener into consideration, because many are on mobile, brands now have access to commuting and work time of listeners.

“You just need one person to listen, get your message and pass it on to someone else. And, you’ve doubled your audience.” – Robert Gerrish

I’ve covered how to market your podcast before, but how should you select the correct show and approach them to promote your business? If you have not read my podcast marketing article, read it first, then check back on this one to properly execute your plan.

You need to know your brand message before knowing who to approach and it will make your future media vision more clear. This should all be part of your company’s process to prep for a media interview.

A brand needs to know how to get all the right parts in place before approaching podcast hosts, the work that needs to be done is basic, but approaching without the right backend is a waste of time.

Entrepreneurs should have a media page to store all of their press or perspective press, as it creates the perception that individual is continually getting new press and is also impressive when hosts arrive on the prospective guest’s website.

Perspective podcast marketers should also have a complete media kit on their website in order for all the required imagery, bios and any other information to be publicly available. This helps not only the host but also the brand by allowing them to control what is publically available.

Though there are many different ways to pitch a a podcast host, I have found it effective to do so through email, with the right subject line of course.

Use a software such as Banana Tag to track if your emails are opened, thus gauging their effectiveness and allowing you to write the best possible pitch.

How to Pitch a Podcaster:

  1. First, create a targeting list, such as one in Google Drive. To find the right shows to add your tracking list, first start with shows you’re familiar with, then shows similar to them in iTunes. Also, look for lists such as New Theory Magazine’s “Top Entrepreneur Podcasts to Follow in 2018.” Add all these shows to your spreadsheet, but they will be your top targets, not your starting point.
  2. Next, create a new sheet in your spreadsheet, and look for smaller shows in iTunes, similar to the shows on your list from number 1. You can find these shows by using the “listeners also subscribed to,” option in iTunes. The shows will be ones with less than 20 episodes or have only been around a few months. These will be easier to reach and will be where we will start our work.
  3. You’re going to be writing emails to podcast hosts, be sure to make it unique to them. I have found it helps to find something you have in common with them to tie into your unique story. Quickly explain your story to the host, 1-2 paragraphs, through a lens that will resound with their audience; you’ll have to get good at telling your story in different ways.
  4. Next, add to your emails what you want to teach the podcast audience. You have an area of expertise, show the host how you can help the people listening to them. Focus on one thing to teach, otherwise it can seem overwhelming.
  5. If you have an affiliate offer or something to promote, leave it last or don’t mention it at all. Personally, I have found it more successful to leave this out unless the host could do well off of a high ticket item.
  6. Close the email with a soft close, leaving it up to the host, asking if “you’re a fit,” not telling them you believe you’re a fit.
  7. Find creative ways to follow up, no sooner than 14 days after the original email, but DO NOT automate this process, keep it personal. Also, make sure the response actually communicates with the person, not talking at them or not relevant to their response.
  8. As a last resort, you can always offer to run additional traffic for the host to drive more interest to their podcast.

“Most people that I know are interested in on demand stuff; podcasts is essentially audio Netflix.” – Jordan Harbinger

Once you appear on a few podcasts, you will feel a bit better about this whole process and have a few pieces to show the next set of hosts you approach. As social proof, use your previous interviews to approach the next level of podcasts which would be anything over 20 episodes and ranked below 150 in iTunes. Commit to smaller shows for the first 6 months of your program and you will build a solid portfolio.

Commit to this process for 12-18 months and you will see some amazing growth in your brand and business, creating new opportunities for you brand that did not exist before. A brand should also look for every opportunity to use each piece of content created in as many ways possible, effectively using your new found celebrity credibility.

How to Rebuild A Relationship After Cheating

Posted from https://www.dumblittleman.com/how-to-rebuild-a-relationship-after-cheating/

Finding out that your partner has betrayed your trust is completely devastating. You begin to question the entire relationship, struggle with feelings that you’re not good enough and, above all, wonder whether or not the damage can be repaired.

One thing that can offer you at least a sliver of comfort?

If you’ve been cheated on, you’re not alone.

In fact, in 1/3 of marriages, one or both couples have committed some form of cheating during their relationship.

While there are countless articles encouraging you to dump your cheating partner, there are also resources to help you out in case you decide to give your relationship a second try.

After all, if Beyonce and Jay-Z were able to do it, then why can’t the two of you?

If you’ve decided to stay with your partner after being cheated on, then you need to know what it really takes to heal.

Read on to find out how to rebuild a relationship after cheating.

Take Some Time Apart

cheating time apart

Finding out that you’ve been cheated on can lead to some serious fights between you and your partner.

These fights quickly stop becoming productive. Once that happens, they will start to take cruel turns that can make it a lot harder for you to move on. If you’re still living together or spending time together in the same environment, consider moving out. It will be impossible to resist the temptation to cut your partner down or to beg for forgiveness.

Whether you’ve been cheated on or if you’re the one doing the cheating, you owe it to both yourself and your partner to spend a few days away from each other.

First, you’ll be able to clear your mind. Secondly, you’ll be able to seek the support and advice of your friends. It will also help you remove yourself from a toxic environment.

So, book that dream Airbnb or just spend a few nights crashing on your friend’s couch.

Consider Counseling

Improving communication with your partner after being cheated on is one of the most important things you can do in order to heal.

To ensure that both sides are heard and that the difficult questions are addressed honestly, it’s a good idea to have a therapist to play as a mediator and to offer objective advice.

To find local counseling therapists in your area, you can search online or ask your friends if they know someone who can help.

Remember, cheating is often caused by underlying issues in your relationship. It can even be a consequence of the emotional imbalance of your partner. It’s important to tackle these problems head-on if you want to rebuild trust.

Resist The Urge To Snoop

20% of men go through texts and pictures while in a relationship.

If you’ve been cheated on, the desire to spy on your partner can be incredibly strong. While it might feel satisfying or offer a sense of relief if you don’t find anything, it’s important to think bigger.

Remember that spying on your partner indicates a serious lack of trust. If you truly want to move on after infidelity, then you need to learn how to trust your partner again.

This starts by resisting the urge to check their messages on social media.

Remember, It’s A Process

relationship process

When things are good with your partner, it can be tempting to throw the past out of the window and return to your previous routines. It can also be challenging to stick around if the changes you want to see aren’t happening fast enough.

Give your partner a chance to improve and give yourself the time to heal. Remember that recovery after infidelity is a process. If you treat it like a race, you’ll both end up losing.

How to Use Numbers Effectively in Your Blog Posts

Posted from http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/ProbloggerHelpingBloggersEarnMoney/~3/sJ1CMnoEZzk/

You’re a blogger, so hopefully you feel confident working with words.

But words alone aren’t enough.

Even if you haven’t been blogging for long (or are yet to start), you’ve probably noticed numbers coming up a lot in other people’s posts.

You often find numbers in post titles such as:

Even if they don’t appear in the post’s title of the post, numbers can be used to order a sequence of steps, when listing a series of tips, or when quoting statistics.

Why Do Numbers Matter So Much?

By using numbers in your post, you’ll come across as a more authoritative source of information.

Numbers also intrigue readers. If you mention “Ten ways”, they’ll want to know what they are. If you tell them you made $2,671 from your first product launch, they’ll want to know how.

Here are four ways you can use numbers in your blog posts.

  1. When sharing your results (or someone else’s), whether it’s traffic, fans, income or anything else you might track.
  2. When providing a statistic. It could be a well-known one, or something quite obscure.
  3. When listing a number of steps to follow. Those steps could be your entire post, or just a part of it.
  4. When sharing several tips or ideas, usually in the form of a list post.

Here’s how they might work for you.

#1: Sharing Your Results (or Someone Else’s)

Blog posts that share real-life results are often popular because they show that someone else has succeeded, and give the reader hope that they can too. In the post titles I shared earlier, numbers such as “3,241 Facebook Fans” and “$453k” can help the reader trust your information. It sounds like it must be helpful because it’s so specific.

Tip: Sometimes it’s appropriate to round off numbers (e.g. “My newsletter has more than 20,000 subscribers”). But if you’re sharing your results in a post, specific numbers make it clear the results are accurate.

#2: Providing a Statistic

It’s easy to give advice on your blog without necessarily backing it up. You may know your niche very well, and therefore know that your advice is accurate. But readers won’t necessarily believe you without evidence. Here’s an example from Copyblogger’s classic post Writing Headlines That Get Results:

On average, 8 out of 10 people will read headline copy, but only 2 out of 10 will read the rest. This is the secret to the power of the headline, and why it so highly determines the effectiveness of the entire piece.

The statistics make it clear this information is authoritative and grounded in fact, rather than just someone’s opinion about whether or not headlines are important.

Tip: Of course, your statistics need to be accurate and true. Try to find the original source, or an authoritative source such as a government or university website. It’s often a good idea to link to the source as well.

#3: Listing a Number of Steps to Follow

If your post teaches the reader how to do something, or has steps they need to follow in order, it makes sense to number those steps. The reader may well be going back and forth between your post and the task they’re trying to complete, so you should make it easy for them to remember which step they’re up to.

In this type of post, including the number in the title often works well. For instance, instead of “How to Register a Domain Name” you might have “How to Register a Domain Name in Six Easy Steps”.

Tip: Try not to have too many steps. Having 20 or 30 steps may overwhelm the reader, even if each step can be completed relatively quickly. Instead, try to group each action into five to ten separate steps.

#4: Sharing Several Tips or Ideas

This is different to the step-by-step approach in that each tip or idea in your post will probably stand on its own. The reader can tackle them in any order, and may only try one or two of them.

It’s still a good idea to number each one. Not only will it help orient the reader within your post, it will also prove you’ve delivered what you promised (if you used numbers in your title).

Tip: Big numbers can work well in these types of posts. While “100 Steps to Build the Perfect Website” sounds very daunting, “100 Different Ways to Make Your Website Stand Out” sounds like a comprehensive source readers can dip into.

Using numbers in your post (and particularly in your title) may take a few minutes of extra work. But it could result in a much more popular and effective post.

Do you already use numbers in your posts? Or is it something you want to focus on a little more? If you’ve got any good tips for using numbers, share them with us in the comments.

Would You Like To Wake Up To A Miracle Every Morning?

Posted from http://feeds.lifehack.org/~r/LifeHack/~3/db7KzuN9lDM/the-miracle-morning

How would you feel waking up tomorrow or someday in the future and realising that part of or your entire life has been transformed and you are happier, healthier, shapely or more successful?

The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod has earned countless plaudits and rightly so given the way it unleashes the “not-so-obvious” secret that’s guaranteed to change your life forever. Incredibly, what is widely regarded as “among the most life-changing books ever published” offers a series of simple approaches to achieving all that you have ever wished for. It is, therefore, no surprise that Robert Kiyosaki calls Hal Elrod “a genius” and the novel, ‘a magical solution to his life, combining the best practices compiled over centuries of human consciousness.

Rich in Stories, Habits, Rituals, and Lessons that Inspire Change

The Miracle Morning is a moving and compelling book written after the author survived miraculously from a fatal accident. After being clinically dead for six minutes and spending a further six days in a coma and then the doctor telling him that the amount of brain damage he has suffered meaning he would never walk, he embarked on turning over a new page.

Hal Elrod, then 20 years old, woke up and realized he needed to change for the better and with the help of a friend; he started what he fondly calls “The Miracle Morning” that helps face a joyful and productive day. Right now, Hal Elrod is a walking miracle, speaking words of hope and encouragement to those lost and requires the best practices to change their lives.

Accept responsibility for your actions

Through The Miracle Morning, Elrod uses his inspirational stories to motivate. He mainly uses the head-on-collision he encountered to explain why we’ve got to meet each problem head-on. He writes about the need to accept total responsibility for whatever happens in one’s life and why how often you take responsibility dictates the amount of power to you.

As a hero in his story, the author doesn’t shy away from encouraging the reader to see each day as an opportunity to lead a proper life of enthusiasm. “The bigger the challenge, the better the story!” He says.

Some of the best pieces of advice you can pick from the book are an A.M. Ritual that would help you set the tone for the rest of the day. You will learn to embrace the day and evade the unpleasantly chaotic days.

Elrod’s secret formula – what he terms “Life S.A.V.E.R.S.” are carefully explained in the book too and in his words, are good for you “physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual development.” You will create new habits and thus produce favourable results.

Moderate Stress Is Necessary for Success

Posted from http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/JohnChowDotCom/~3/MRUTOxWHMGU/

If you are reading this blog and have been following John’s journey for quite some time, then you’re probably very interested in how you can lead the dot com lifestyle yourself. You see him enjoying all the freedom in the world, flying to exotic locations, and buying a $2 million house in cash. It’s looks lavish and extravagant and carefree.

And don’t get me wrong. I’m sure the dot com lifestyle is multitudes more enjoyable than running around in the conventional rat race, working 60+ hour weeks for a company that may not align with your personal values. But to assume that success will come without stress is false and misleading. If anything, moderate stress is absolutely required if you want to “make it.”

Calm, Cool and Collected

A few years ago, an article appeared in Forbes that explained how successful people are able to keep calm under pressure, how they’re able to maintain their composure when facing the crunch. I highly recommend you read it, as it’ll give you a lot of insight into how some of the world’s richest people seem to maintain a cool head and stay in control of their situation.

One of the key takeaways from the article is illustrated with the basic visualization above. Think about where you fall on this spectrum right now compared to where you actually want to be, and what that means for your prospects at success.

It’s a common misconception that everyone living the dot com lifestyle (or some variation of it) would fall somewhere along the left half of the graph. You assume that they have very little stress in their lives and, when they do face stress, it doesn’t last for very long. While this might sound appealing at first, it very quickly leads to boredom and depression.

If life is too easy, you lose your motivation. It becomes uninteresting.

Work Hard, Play Hard?

By contrast, you’ll find that a great number of people in modern society likely fall toward the right half of the graph. They’re fighting hard to earn those raises and promotions at work, tackling far too many projects and facing far too many tight deadlines. They’re stressed, anxious and overworked. And when you’re constantly under that much tension, your performance will suffer.

A completely frazzled and overwhelmed mind probably can’t accomplish very much.

But, as with so many other things in life, there’s a “sweet spot” to be had and it falls somewhere in the middle. With a moderate amount of stress, you face fun and exciting challenges each and every day. You stretch yourself just beyond your current level of ability to see how far you can go.

Key to both happiness and success is this sense of perceived control and perceived progress. And the only way you’ll be able to reach peak performance in what you do, whether that’s blogging, Internet marketing, or anything else, is to push yourself just far enough to experience just the right amount of stress for just the right length of time.

Take It from Bill

Back when his company was experiencing explosive growth, Bill Gates famously took days, even weeks off at a time to seclude himself from the rest of the world. He’d disappear, deep diving into piles of reading and research. It was during these periods of “deep work” that he was able to gain some of his greatest insights, which further elevated Microsoft to whole new levels. He was able to find the balance to achieve optimal performance.

Stress is not the enemy. It’s a tool like any other. Use a knife too much and improperly and you can expect to have a dull blade sooner rather than later. Keep the knife in the drawer and it’ll remain underutilized, never reaching its full potential or enabling you to complete the recipes you want to eat. Use it the right amount, take the time to sharpen it regularly, and you’ve got an amazing tool on your hands. Stress is the same way.

Use stress in your favor, in moderation, and you’ll reap the benefits of success soon enough.
